ESU LokSound V5 HO Scale DCC/MM/SX/M4 21-Pin (21MTC) Sound Decoder with Speaker, Part #58419, BLANK version, includes 11x15mm speaker.
The LokSound 5 is the most important member of the LokSound family. Due to the combination of the digital decoder and the sound module on one circuit board, it achieves the smallest possible dimensions of 30mm x 15.5mm (1.189" x 0.609"), so it fits into almost any HO scale locomotive. The LokSound 5 DCC is made for the North American and Australian markets -- it's a pure DCC decoder that supports RailComPlus and can also be used on DC layouts.
Key Details:
- NOTE: ESU LokSound decoders are shipped with a factory test file only and will require a sound file to be loaded.
- An ESU Lokprogrammer, Part #53452, is required to load sound files to this decoder.
Operating Modes:
- Like all products in the LokSound family, the LokSound 5 is a true multi-protocol decoder. It supports DCC as well as Motorola®, Selectrix® and M4, with 14 through 128 speed steps, 2- and 4-digit addresses in DCC format, and up to 32 functions. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoders register themselves fully automatically on suitable command stations.
- Supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom® you may read CV values on the main, provided your command station supports RailCom®. Utility registers are available for command stations that only support programming CVs 1-255.
- Motorola® users benefit from up to 28 speed steps for 255 addresses, with three additional Motorola® addresses for triggering 16 functions. An integral programming mode even allows programming with the classic Central Unit 6021.
- The M4 protocol supports automatic registration on mfx®-compatible central units.
- Supports Märklin® braking sections, ZIMO® HLU braking commands, and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake generators or DC is also possible, and the locomotive will halt when a Selectrix® braking diode is switched into the circuit. The ABC push-pull feature enables automatic commuting between two stations.
- Also suitable for analog DC and AC layouts.
Sound:
- Can reproduce up to 10 channels simultaneously, each offering up to 16-bit / 31250 kHz resolution for hi-fi sound quality. A Class D audio power amplifier with up to 3W output feeds speakers with 4-32 ohm impedance, and a 128 Mbit sound memory provides ample storage.
- The volume of individual sound fragments can be adjusted separately. The flexible sound engine allows prototypical simulation of a wide range of rail vehicles, with three separately adjustable braking functions and two alternative load scenarios.
Functions:
- Every LokSound 5 has at least 10 amplified function outputs, depending on interface type. Decoders with PluX22 or 21MTC interfaces have 4 additional outputs for servos or logic functions. All important lighting functions are supported, with adjustable brightness per output. The decoder also supports automatic push-and-pull "coupler waltz" movements for digital couplers such as ROCO®, Krois®, and Telex®.
Motor Control:
- A variable PWM pulse frequency from 10kHz to 50kHz assures quiet operation, particularly for coreless motors. Load control can be adjusted with up to 10 separate CVs for even the most difficult cases, and the "Auto Tune" function automatically calibrates the decoder to match the motor. Delivers up to 1.5A motor current.
